Hewlett Packard (HP) Printer Exchange Program

What is the HP Printer Exchange Program?
The UCD Materiel Management division, in conjunction with HP, is providing new high-efficiency HP printers,
Free of Charge to campus departments in exchange for old printers that meet specified criteria. There will be several phases for this program. For the first phase, HP printers greater than 12 years old will be eligible.
Note: This program is not available to Medical Center and non-Davis campus locations at this time.
UPDATE As of 6/27/08, over 300 requests for printer exchanges have been received. Materiel Management will be able to provide about 350 printers during this first phase of the program and requests are being processed in the order received. Exchange requests that cannot be fulfilled at this time will be held for a future phase.
What are the Benefits of the HP Printer Exchange Program?
- New HP printer at no cost to the department
- New printers are Energy Star® qualified, provide 2-sided printing capability, and utilize high capacity toner cartridges
- Old HP printers and accessories diverted from landfills and recycled in the most responsible method

How Do We Apply for the Program?
- Review the replacement printer specifications above.
- Secure approval of your business administrator.
- Complete the application form to identify the printer(s) you would like to exchange. The form will be reviewed to ensure that there aren't any restrictions on the disposal of the old printer.
How Will the Exchange Take Place?
The individual listed on the application form will be contacted to set an appointment time for the printer exchange. Printers will be exchanged at the
Central Storehouse facility at 615 Hopkins Road. The printer exchanges will take place during the following hours:
- M, T: 1:00pm - 4:30pm
- W, Th, F: 8:30am - 3:30pm
If you are unable to physically bring your printer to the Central Storehouse facility, delivery arrangements can be made through Special Services at their
published rates.
Note: There will be a delay from the time the form is submitted until the actual printer exchange occurs. Distribution of the printers will begin in July 2008.
